On Friday, October 17, 2003, Hanes Supply, Inc., held its first ever Sports Night Event, held at Fontana’s in West Seneca, NY. Over three hundred people attended. Those who attended enjoyed dinner and the chance to socialize with many of the well-known sports players who were in attendance including Rob Ray, Mark Brammer, Booker Edgerson, Lou Piccone, Charley Ferguson and many more.

The live and silent auctions helped make the evening exciting, and helped raise money for charity, the Kelly for Kids Foundation. Dan Kelly gave a short speech about the great work that Kelly for Kids has accomplished for the Western New York Community.

Bill Hanes, of Hanes Supply, Inc., spoke of Kent Hull’s accomplishments as well as the Top Ten Reasons why Kent should be inducted into the Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. Dave Learn was next up to bat to present Kent with his Crystal Buffalo Award to take home to Mississippi. A larger “Hard Working Man” trophy will remain on display at the Hanes Supply, Buffalo, New York office with each year’s recipient’s name added

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Hanes Supply “Hard Working Man Award” to Kent Hull. Kent Hull was an All-Pro Center for the Buffalo Bills from 1986 to 1996. This was the first “Hard Working Man” awarded. This award will be awarded annually to a past or present Buffalo area sports player who is known as an exceptional leader on and off the sports battlefield. Kent Hull certainly deserved to be the first recipient of this award.

Kent Hull was gracious enough to honor Hanes Supply with the use of his name for this award; the “Kent Hull – Hard Working Man Award”, which will be presented annually.

Hanes Supply, Inc., is proud to have presented such an enjoyable and successful, first time Sports Night honoring a truly deserving, Buffalo Sports Hero… Mr. Kent Hull.
